Steph Curry With The Shot
Day 1
Hit me with your best shot.
Steph Curry is one of my favorite players in the NBA.
He is a class act, a family man, and he’s always been bold in his Christian faith. One thing he’s also been is a warrior. Not just by the team name on his jersey, but by the warrior spirit he has when he plays the game he loves.
In November of 2016, I got to see one of the most inspiring moments I’ve witnessed in professional sports. It was Steph Curry’s warrior spirit on full display.
On November 4, 2016, Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors took the floor against the Los Angeles Lakers, and as hard as it was for everyone to believe, Curry went 0 for 10 from 3-point range.
The reason I bring this terrible performance up, from one of the greatest 3-Point shooters to ever play, is because I want to show you that it is not simply skill that makes Steph Curry great. It’s the fact that he fights on, even after 10 straight failures and a devastating personal performance.
You see, on November 7, 2016, only 3 days later, Steph Curry played another game, down in New Orleans. This time, he made NBA history.
Breaking the former record held by Kobe Bryant himself, Steph Curry made 13 three-pointers in that game and set a new league record.
I don’t know about you, but I have had days or even seasons in my life where I couldn’t get it together. It seemed like every day I would go 0 for 10 from 3-point land trying to achieve progress and win in life. But, there have also been incredible moments I’ve lived where I have been blessed to experience big victories, and felt like I couldn’t miss.
Verses To Digest:
"And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men"
Colossians 3:23
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
2 Timothy 1:7
Your Next Steps:
On your 0 for 10 days, assess how you can improve, be grateful for the lessons, and determine to keep doing your best moving forward.
On your 13 three-pointer days, celebrate the wins, walk with humility but don't apologize for your confidence as you keep doing your best.
Like my Dad always tells me, we win like champions, we lose like champions.
You will miss three-pointers, but keep shooting.
Even if it takes more than 10 attempts,
“Hit me with your best shot.”
All love,
Lowery
