Made To Move

Exercise was once a heavy chore for me.

It would weigh on my mind all day.

I avoided it like the plague!!

Thoughts like:

“You need to take care of yourself Kyle” would crowd my mental space, but would rarely spur me on to take action.

There wasn’t much in me that was excited about breaking a sweat and getting my heart rate up.

I wanted the “gain” of a healthier lifestyle, without the “pain” of exercise.

To avoid discomfort and pain,

I neglected my physical health.

I refused to exercise all through my early 20s. And I paid a high price.

These past few years, I was not happy with the man I saw in the mirror.

I had gradually drifted to a place where I was not healthy. About 50 extra pounds of “not healthy”.

The extra pounds in my stomach and face were a clear indicator I had given up and given in to the temptation of comfort.

It wasn’t until I made the mental shift, of viewing exercise as a challenge and not a chore—-that’s when things started to change.

Now, throughout my week, I see exercise as a gift I give myself, with all of the benefits that come with it.

I have trained my mind to think,

“Kyle, don’t rob yourself today. Give yourself the gift of exercise and all the good it will bring to your life.”

If exercise is too heavy of an activity in your mind, maybe you need to think “lighter” thoughts about it.

Accept exercise as a “challenge” and not a “chore”.

It’s a challenge you accept, in order to gain the reward it offers.

God's blessed us with one body.

It would increase our quality of life immensely if we learned how to take better care of it.

Verses to consider:

“For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

1 Corinthians 6:20

“And whatever you do, do it heartily as to the Lord and not to man.”

Colossians 3:23

Your next steps:

If you struggle in this area of fitness.

If staying consistent with working out hasn’t been easy, then write down how many days you exercise a week. Then I want you to double that amount for the next 3 weeks.

If it’s 20 minutes a week with just one session, then get 40 minutes in a week.

If you find yourself breaking a sweat 45 minutes a week, take it up to 90 minutes by adding a day or two.

This 3 weeks of pushing yourself a bit more, will give yourself a sense of new found confidence.

After 3-weeks you will have accomplished more than you have in a while.

It’s also been said it takes 21-days to build a new habit.

This 3-week challenge is simple, but can prove significant as you get back on the horse.

Start seeing exercise as a “challenge” and not a chore.

After the 3-weeks, evaluate again, and set some new goals yourself.

Email me if you need help or just want to share that you did it!

Lastly, keep in mind that walking is not something you should under estimate.

If you can’t get a sweat producing work out in, put on your favorite album or podcast and go walk for 30 to 45 minutes.

Seriously, it will also build that habit of movement. Walking gets you outside and is rejuvenating in many ways.

My fitness journey started with months of simply walking around my neighborhood. It built my mindset and created a habit of daily movement.

That laid the foundation for a more active lifestyle.

We were made to move, let's get out there today.

Much love,

Lowery
