Face Your Giants, With Fury

Tyson Fury.

His Dad named him Tyson after Mike Tyson, as a declaration that a future world champion boxer was born.

His Dad was right.

Tyson's biggest contender was the undefeated Deontay Wilder.

Fans called Wilder "The Bronze Bomber" because he had 40 of his wins by knockout.

Tyson was on a long hiatus from boxing, facing a massive battle with depression and mental health. While Tyson privately wrestled his demons, Wilder  publicly boasted in tabloids.

He shouted that Tyson Fury would never come back to the ring.

He continued saying that even if Tyson did fight in his prime, Wilder said he would make quick work of him.

Finally in a healthy place mentally, Tyson Fury returned to boxing.

What was the first thing Tyson did?

He publicly called a fight with Deontay Wilder of course.

The first fight was a controversial outcome, resulting in a split decision. But the rematch between these titans was different.

Tyson unleashed his Fury.

Deontay Wilder’s corner threw in the towel in the 7th round.

Tyson had reclaimed his championship title.

Tyson Fury was again, world-champ.

He silenced the loud-mouth of Wilder, but notice who actually called the fight. Tyson Fury first faced his giant of mental health, his faith in God playing a huge role. Then, Tyson faced the giant who was trying to publicly defame his character and skill.

Verses To Digest:

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9

Moreover David said, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.”

And Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you!”

1 Samuel 17:37

Your next steps:

Face your giants. God is faithful against every foe and in every fight. Whether you're fighting a world champ, or fighting for your sanity.

Remember, Tyson Fury was called out by Deontay Wilder, but it was Tyson Fury who called the fight with Deontay. He is the one who faced Deontay. David was called out by Goliath, but David volunteered to step to the giant.

We can move forward in confidence that the Lord is with us. That’s exactly how a shepherd boy was able to end the life and the blasphemous words of a Philistine.

Goliath may have been a man of war, but David was a man of worship.

God went before David and put Goliath in the dirt. This knowledge should empower you to fight the good fight of faith, every day, with Fury.

All love,

Lowery
